CBSE board exams begin on 16 February 2027

CBSE released the official 2027 theory date sheet for Classes 10 and 12 on 6 November 2026. Both main examination schedules begin on Tuesday, 16 February 2027. Class 10 theory papers run through Tuesday, 9 March, and Class 12 papers run through Friday, 9 April. All papers begin at 10:30 a.m. IST. The finish time depends on the subject, so check the exact row in the official PDF linked under Sources below.

The opening paper is Painting for Class 10 and Physics for Class 12. Your first exam depends on the subjects you are registered for. If you are in Class 10 and take Mathematics but do not take Painting, for example, Mathematics on 17 February is the first date to mark from the list below.

Practical exam dates follow a separate circular

For winter-bound schools, CBSE’s 5 November circular sets 9 November to 19 December 2026 as the window for practical exams, projects and internal assessments in both classes. The circular says these assessments are scheduled from 1 January 2027 for regular-session schools and that CBSE will issue separate instructions for those schools. Ask your school for your subject-wise practical dates and batch timings.

How to use the date sheet to plan revision

Download the official PDF and make a one-page calendar with your subject codes, exam dates and paper durations. Include every subject on your registration. Once your admit card is available, check the examination centre, reporting instructions and any updates from your school. Treat 10:30 a.m. as the paper start time and use the reporting time printed on your admit card.

If you take Class 12 Physics, plan your final revision around 16 February. Attempt a timed sample paper before your last revision week, then use the official marking scheme to identify lost marks. Practise the steps that cost you marks, such as showing the sign convention, labelling a ray diagram or carrying units through a numerical.

For Class 10, Mathematics comes before Science, so keep both in your weekly practice now. Set aside one timed section for each subject and review the errors the next day. If you also have a skill-subject paper on 24 February, mark that before dividing your time between Science and English. Use the official CBSE sample papers for your exact subject code, especially for Mathematics Basic versus Standard and for the language options.
