NITK’s 24th Convocation is on 14 November 2026. Read the verified session timings, registration requirements and practical guidance for families.

The date, venue and two sessions

NITK Surathkal’s announcement, dated 13 October and checked on 17 October 2026, schedules its 24th Annual Convocation for Saturday, 14 November 2026. It covers graduands of the 2025–26 academic year. The venue is the Silver Jubilee Auditorium, with Ph.D. and postgraduate graduands scheduled for 10 AM–12 noon and undergraduate graduands for 2–4 PM.

Online registration is announced from 14 October. In-person registration is scheduled for Friday, 13 November, from 4 PM onwards. The notice states that both forms of registration are compulsory for graduands receiving their degrees during the ceremony. Detailed participation instructions are to follow through institute communications.

Families should distinguish participation from viewing

The announcement invites parents and relatives to watch the live stream remotely. For accompanying families on campus, it says a designated viewing venue near the auditorium will be arranged. This should not be interpreted as a promise of family seating inside the main auditorium.

Discuss these arrangements before booking travel. A family member may value joining the occasion from home just as much as travelling, particularly when health, work or cost makes a journey difficult. Check the official stream information when published and agree on a convenient time to connect with the graduate afterwards.

Plan around every required step

Build an itinerary that includes registration, the appropriate ceremony session and travel between your accommodation and campus. Do not plan solely around the time printed for the main event. Confirm your personal participation status and any later reporting instruction before finalising a tight arrival schedule.

Keep the official announcement, registration acknowledgement and subsequent instructions in a single folder available offline. Write down the institute contact relevant to your enquiry. If something is unclear, ask a specific question that includes your programme and the issue you need resolved. A focused enquiry is easier to answer than a broad request for every detail.

Treat accommodation as a separate booking

A convocation announcement is not an accommodation confirmation. Before relying on a campus room, look for a current, applicable notice and a personal allotment or booking confirmation where required. A room policy from an earlier convocation may no longer apply. If you choose accommodation outside campus, check the location, accessibility, transport options and cancellation terms.

Prepare a realistic family budget that includes travel, local transport, food and any extra night needed for participation arrangements. Share the itinerary with everyone travelling. Allow for delays and avoid a return connection that leaves no margin after the event. The objective is to protect a meaningful day from preventable logistical stress.

Make an accurate record of the achievement

Graduates can use this milestone to organise degree-related records and update a CV or professional profile carefully. Check names, programme titles and completion information against official documents. Keep high-quality scans in a secure location and maintain a separate backup. Share only the information an employer or institution actually needs.

When describing academic work, explain the problem, your contribution and what you learned. A completed degree and an award are different claims; record each only when supported by the relevant official document. Accurate presentation builds confidence and makes future applications easier to prepare.

Celebrate the process as well as the ceremony

Consider writing a short note of thanks to the people who supported the journey. A laboratory partner, a teacher who explained a difficult concept or a family member who made time for study may all have played a part. This reflection can help you recognise that sustained learning is both personal effort and cooperation.

For younger students, the occasion offers a useful picture of where consistent schoolwork can lead. Try asking a graduate which habits mattered most and which difficulties they had to overcome. The answer may be more valuable than a discussion focused only on entrance ranks or the name of a college. Different students reach meaningful goals through different paths.

A practical starting point for future science students

Choose one habit to practise this week: explain a concept aloud, solve a small set of problems carefully or review mistakes without rushing. Make the task small enough to repeat. Over time, those habits support independent learning, whether the eventual destination is engineering, medicine, research or another field.
